Bayek is a very religious character, so its important for him to get his son out of the duat (hell) to the field of reeds (heaven). That's why he hunts down the people who make him kill his son - to lay him to rest, give him peace. The first 2 targets he hunts (Ruyek in opening scene and Medunamun in Siwa) are for pure vengeance.
