Double Major IS/CS here. It may be a good idea depending on what you're into. For me, it was a huge mistake. First of all, the IS department is not nearly up to par with the CS department. The advisor doesn't want you to be challenged, but simply wants you to graduate. I can honestly say that I have fully applied myself in one of the core IS You can set up a "what-if report" under the academics tab in myfsu and it should allow you to pick the history major and see what the requirements are like. Double majors tend to be another 45ish credits added on to the 120 from your current degree, while minors tend to only be about 12-15. Competitive-Cash-753.
Previous posters offered sound advice about the difference between a double BS/BA *degree* (150 credit hours) and a double *major* within the BA degree (120 credit hours). I would advise you to talk to the DUS in English (Prof David Alff, dalff@buffalo.edu ) who might even put you in touch with other students who are combining the two disciplines.

Now if you are going to pursue a higher level of education, then by all means, go for the double major. GPA and Honours will mean more to an employer than a double degree. Adding to this for clarification, they have to be majors of the same degree, otherwise it'll be dual-degrees. For example, a BS in Biomed and a BA in Psych would be dual-degrees, not double majors. I declared mine at the end of my freshman year, but you can pretty much declare it any time before senior year.

In a dual degree program, you're studying two (likely different) fields in order to earn two separate degrees. These are usually different types of degrees, too, such as a BA and a BS. However, with a double major, you're studying two related fields to earn a single degree. This also means that you're receiving just one type of degree, such as

a) coop is not guaranteed, and it’s a somewhat competitive program to get into. However, once you get in, with the schools assistance it becomes MUCH easier to land internships. b) my school in particular has a better reputation in mathematics than in computer science, but not a lot to make a huge difference.
